Welcome
As a part of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary
District Nine - Western Region, Division 2 Chicago
provides administrative, training, communication and
supervisory support to five flotillas which proudly
serve the Chicagoland area.
While
Division 2 does not directly provide services to the
general public, each of
our
flotillas provides
boating education classes,
vessel safety checks and much more.
Division 2
flotillas assist the U.S. Coast Guard in non-law
enforcement programs such as safety patrols, search
and rescue, and marine environmental protection.
During the
2007 boating season, the five Division 2 flotillas,
consisting of 128 Auxiliarists performed 721 Vessel
Safety Checks; conducted 65 hours of Boating Safety
Education; and engaged in 485 hours of Safety and
Regatta Patrols, assisting 20 boaters with vessels
cumulatively valued at over $230,000 - and most
importantly, saved one life.
